Lower Back Pain Remedies

As back pain begins to intensify, you will be looking for lower back pain remedies.   There are treatments that you can begin yourself in your own home.  The first thing you will probably want to do is to get off your feet and into bed.  Bed rest is often prescribed by doctors, but they do not prescribe an extended stay in bed as they did in previous years.  Often a couple of days of bed rest will suffice to relief most lower back pain.  Don’t stay in bed 24/7.  Try to get up occasionally to go to the bathroom and just move around a little bit.

Getting the right kind of bed rest is very important.  Laying flat on your back may not be the best way to give your relief from pain or discomfort.  There are two correct ways to lay in bed that will cause the least discomfort to your back.

          1.  Lay on your side and bend at your hips and knees to a 90 degree angle with a pillow between your knees.

          2.  Lay on your back with your knees elevated by a pillow or pillows.  This position puts less strain and pressure on your back.

One thing to note–sleeping on your stomach puts your spine in an awkward position and can make things worse.  So, avoid this sleeping position if at all possible.

In the following sections, we will be exploring various treatments and options to help give you some lower back pain relief.  Back pain can be frightening, but it can be overcome.
